Passages

Another icon from my (relative) youth enters the clearing at the end of the path:  Gerry Rafferty, dead yesterday at age 63.  Obit here.

Rafferty released "Baker Street" as a single in 1978; I probably bought "City to City" (the album from which "Baker Street" comes) late that year or very early in 1979.  The Second Mrs. Pennington and I were living in Oregon at the time but we found ourselves winding our way down Baker Street from time to time about a year later.  It was a rare thing for us to be in that part of London without Mr. Rafferty accompanying us.

RIP, Gerry.  Thanks for the soundtrack.
